Does singing a lot improve your singing voice?

I can stay in tune some of the time but not all, if I begin to sing a lot could my singing voice improve? I don’t mean to win American Idol or anything just to have a decent to good performance in a musical. Also could this improve my octave range? If it doesn’t help could u give me some tips I would greatly appreciate it

As coaster said, if you’re singing with bad technique, just singing more with the same bad technique isn’t going to help you improve at all. It could even hurt your voice depending on what you’re doing wrong. If it would be an option for you to get a professional voice coach, that would be my first suggestion. If it’s not, make sure you’re breathing correctly (make sure your stomach is expanding when you breathe in. Your chest can expand a little bit, but your shoulders shouldn’t move when you breathe). Don’t try to do anything with your throat. You can’t control your singing with your throat and trying to control anything in your throat will just hurt it. Use correct breath support, open your mouth and the rest should follow. As for staying in tune, I highly recommend practicing with a piano or a pitch pipe or something that can play the notes for you while you’re singing to make sure you’re hitting the right ones. I used to sing half an octave too low on everything until I started practicing with a piano and learning what the notes are supposed to sound like. After you do it long enough and learn the sounds of the notes, you won’t need that crutch anymore.
